So unfortunately, my untimely arrival in the NYC meant that I complete missed this way cool shopping event, Wish You Were Here! But thanks to a tip off from my girl Lorna, my LON counterparts can still get in on the shop swap action.

A few Tuesdays ago, I had a triple "To-Do" day thanks to an afternoon off work and my accomplice Erica. The first two "To-Do's" of the day were preceded by a Sushi Lunch at the Japanese Centre just to ensure we had our shopping stamina. Then it was off to Bond Street we went in search of the #14. Shop for (perfect) posh stationary at Smythson.
After perusing the selection of fine diaries, pens and papers galore, having a personal consultation for some new bespoke stationary (free samples included), I selected a box of Stamped Correspondence Cards from Coral Collection that said "Reach For Your Dreams" or in my lingo: "You have to have me".
The experience of watching the sales women delicately pack up the box of stationary into a Smythson blue box wrapped in a box and then sealed in a matching blue bag was worth the purchase just in it self... Who knew shopping for stationary could be as seductive as shopping for jewelry?
After the stationary foray, we kicked up our heels and hot stepped it over to #20. Discover Dover Street Market. Dover Street Market is a retail concept from Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons located in Mayfair. The store is 6 floors of bare walls and steel beams featuring over a dozen designers including who arfully display their wares throughout their space as they see fit. For a Fashionista it is a dream come true - for a Recessionista it makes for good afternoon entertainment and inspiration.
Although I left DSM empty handed, I have a wishlist full of ideas for F/W 09.
Thanks to Erica for being my partner in crime on this mission and making sure I didn't make any credit card misshaps.

Can you believe this is my third Christmas party with my company in London?? Neither can I or maybe neither do you care - but regardless you now know that for the third straight year I boogied away at my first official event of the Social Calendar - the Company Christmas party!
This year's theme: 80s GLAM. Now since I was made in the 80s and, trust me, it was not a particularly Glamourous part of my past... I really didn't want to relive it. So I went for a bit of an 80s NYLON Glam: Purple Dress, Hot Red Tights, Red Hoop Earrings, some fun, festive dangly Necklaces, and of course, a pair of kick-ass Heels.
Some of my colleagues dug out their 80s Glam Garb and really went for - gotta love LON Fancy Dress! Anyway, a fabu-lous time was had by all.

The September Social Season unofficially kicked off last week with Pub Club, but really got underway with a girls only trip to the dollhouse,the Victor & Rolf Fashion Dollhouse. Offically called the "House of Victor & Rolf", the behind the scenes exhibit at the Barbican showcases V&R's “cool irony and surreal beauty” that blur the lines between fashion and art. For fashion and art lovers alike it truly is a sight - and one of my favorite exhibits since moving to the LON. After 24 hours in Munich, where the main highlight was my banana walnut pancakes at T5's exclusive Gordon Ramsey's Plane Food it was back to the London Social Scene for a week of birthday celebrations. A bit of breakfast in bed, Beat the Clock lunch at Belgos, cocktails at Nobu, dinner at Maze (where Chef Ramsey himself made an appearance and we dined small plates including BLT's and PBJ Sandwiches), an afternoon with fellow 
bday girl Lorna at Charles Worthington, and a three way birthday celebration at the
Old Queens Head made up my fantastic b-day week (click here for party snaps!). So much for not celebrating this one!
Thanks to all my fab family and friends who left message and sent emails...who knew you could feel so loved hundreds of miles from home?
So in an effort to get out of London and to spruce up our flat for spring, Mike and I hopped into our StreetCar (our uber-green and convenient car-sharing club) and headed out of town to Milton Keynes. I have no idea what Milton Keynes is famous for, but of all the places I've been in the UK, I've been there twice for a company outing at the Woburn Safari park (like a drive through zoo that in my opinion the Brits started because it's always too rainy and cold to get out of your car) and now for an exciting Ikea adventure.
Let's just say bargain hunting is in my blood. I have terrible buyers remorse unless whatever it is I'm buying has been at least a little bit marked down (especially when the markdown is in GBP!). Anyway, imagine our shock, awe, happiness and horror when we turned up to the 21st anniversary celebration which included over 21% everything in the store.
So after a one pound Swedish meatball lunch, Mike and I were off in search of our wares. We came home weary but happy having purchased this cool corner table, two lovely lamps, and some fun candles. That's what I call Ikea-Chic!
Anyway, in other shopping news, Anthropologie is now offering UK shipping and Banana Republic opened it's first UK flagship earlier this month. Regardless, a NYC fashion trip needs to be planned ASAP!
